MOOCs offer a flexible way to explore new topics and study university-level courses independently. Courses are open to everyone via a Moodle-based online learning environment. All materials and automated exercises are available free of charge.
Courses at AI Academy
AI Academy is a center of University of Turku for artificial intelligence research and education. Our university is multidisciplinary in terms of science and research. AI Academy provides AI & Cybersecurity MOOC, a free introductory level course available to everyone interested in learning how the rapid advances in AI technology, most prominently machine learning, connect with the changing cybersecurity domain.

Climate University courses
Climate University provides free online courses for universities and everyone who wants to make the sustainability transition in the society real. The courses are made in multidisciplinary collaboration of several universities in Finland with the funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the participating universities.
- Climate.now MOOC is a course on the basics of climate system, its change and effects of the change, how to mitigate and adapt to changing climate.
Cultural Memory and Social Change
The thematic collaboration in cultural memory and social change supports the extensive, critical and multidisciplinary research on memory and its social connections. Cultural memory refers to the collective practices that societies use to build and uphold their relationship to the past, living in the present, and preparing for the future.
- An Introductory course on Cultural Memory and Social Change MOOC (1 ECTS) teaches you the basic knowledge of cultural memory and its social connections.

MOOC courses at The Centre for East Asian Studies (CEAS) / Asianet
MOOC courses arranged by the Asia Network are free and available for everyone who is interested in learning more about the continent and regions of Asia. The courses offer basic knowledge of the history and societies of contemporary Asia, and about the business environments of the region.
Currently, the Asia Network offers the following MOOC course in English:
- Introduction to Business in East and Southeast Asia MOOC (3 ECTS credits)

Open Higher Education: Open Programming and Database Courses
Open Programming and Database Courses training provides you with the opportunity to complete 5 - 28 ECTS credits of programming and database courses. The studies are first-year studies in the Bachelor’s degree programme in ICT. You can enroll only to one course or several, depending on your own needs and interests. The studies are intended for those receiving temporary protection in Finland, but anyone with ability to study in English at a higher education level is welcome. The courses are free of charge for the participants.
This training is provided in cooperation between the University of Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences.
