Areas of expertise

lipid analysis
alternative electron transfer pathways,

I obtained my BSc. degree in Genetics and Biotechnology at the National University of San Marcos (Peru) in 2013, followed by a MSc. degree in Molecular Systems Biology at the University of Turku in 2016. As a master’s student, I joined the laboratory of Molecular Plant Biology under supervision of Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne, where I investigated the potential of Finnish native microalgae strains for wastewater treatment and biofuel production.

In January 2017, I started my PhD studies in the Doctoral Programme in Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Turku, and I am currently working on my doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne.

The aim of my doctoral research is to elucidate the regulatory network between oxygenic photosynthesis and N2-fixation processes in Anabaena. My study is focused in the photoprotective mechanisms of the Flavodiiron proteins (FDPs) and their application for a novel approach towards enhanced H2 production in Anabaena.
