Biography

I am a PhD researcher in Social policy, at Department of Social Research. I study housing affordability, housing inequalities and housing policies in the Finnish urban areas. I graduated as a Master of Political Sciences in 2016, majoring in social policy. I started my PhD research in 2017. Alongside my thesis research, I have worked as a project researcher in a number of projects, such as Smartland (STN / Finnish Academy) and Communities and Students Together (CaST) (Erasmus+). I have also worked at the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare and The Department of Child Psychiatry at the University of Turku.

Research

In my PhD thesis research I study housing affordability and inequalites around housing in major Finnish cities. I am interested in how housing affordability is defined in Finnish housing policy, how much different households pay for their housing and how affordability problems can be alleviated both at the local and national level.

My first peer-reviewed article was awarded as the best Finnish urban studies article of the year in 2021. The article analysed definitions of housing affordability in Finnish housing policy.
