Biography

Farhan Ahmad is a university lecturer in the Department of Information Systems at the Turku School of Economics. He is also adjunct professor at Åbo Akademi University and doctoral supervisor at Edinburgh Business School, UK. He has previously worked at Åbo Akademi University Finland, Edinburgh Business School Scotland and Edge Hill University Business School England. Ahmad holds two Master's degrees, one in Business and Management and the other in Sociological Demography, both from Stockholm University, Sweden. He completed his Ph.D. at Åbo Akademi University in 2018.

Teaching

His current teaching includes courses on knowledge and innovation management, emerging technologies, business models, and research methods. He has previously taught courses on knowledge management, information behavior, competitive intelligence, human resource management, knowledge creation, and business research methods.

Research

Farhan Ahmad's research is largely interdisciplinary and diverse. It focuses on information and knowledge management, knowledge sharing, environmental scanning, workplace information literacy, and multilingual organizations. His current interests lie in two main areas of research: employees' use of generative AI or LLMs in the workplace and its implications, and the role of emerging technologies in sustainability. 

Farhan has a strong interest in the application of diverse research methods such as fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), bibliometrics (bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis), and LDA topic modeling. He has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research, particularly in structural equation modeling and case study research.

He has published in several international journals including Long Range Planning, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of International Management, Journal of Information Science, and Information Technology & People. He serves as a reviewer for a number of international journals.
