Biography

I received my PhD in philosophy from the University of Turku in 2012 upon completion of my award-winning thesis Perception in Kant’s Model of Experience. Since then, I have held various research and/or teaching positions in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Turku. In 2016, I was a Fulbright Scholar in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, San Diego. From 2018 to 2020, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS).

Teaching

Spring 2024: History of Philosophy; A10 Seminar

Autumn 2023: Introduction to Philosophy; A10 Seminar

Spring 2023: History of Philosophy; A10 Seminar; Kant's Prolegomena; Political Philosophy

Research

My current research has two main branches. The one that carries on from my TIAS project is to analyse the implicit epistemic underpinnings of a scientific physicalist worldview and the paradoxes these underpinnings bring into our understanding of ourselves as human beings. The other branch is Kant's theoretical philosophy, especially Kant's theory of perception, and its relation to contemporary issues in philosophy of mind and related fields. I also have a long-time interest in aesthetics, and lately have become more and more interested in political philosophy, especially in the tradition of the Enlightenment and its connections to society today.
