Areas of expertise
I am currently a Collegium Researcher at the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS), University of Turku, and based at the Department of Teacher Education. I have a university lecturer position at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki, and a Title of Docent (Education, especially research on student motivation and well-being) at the University of Eastern Finland.
My teaching is mostly related to learning in different contexts, educational psychology, and quantitative research methods. I also supervise Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students.
My research links the study of motivation with well-being and explores both among children and young people, especially during educational transitions. Specifically, I investigate individual differences in and developmental trajectories of achievement motivation (e.g., achievement goal orientations, task values) and their associations with various educational and emotional outcomes (e.g., academic achievement, educational and occupational aspirations, burnout, engagement, perfectionism).
