Biography

Mahdi Moghaddam is currently a third year PhD candidate at the University of Turku, at the research group of Battery Materials and Technologies. He obtained his dual-degree Master’s in materials engineering from Arts et Métiers ParisTech in France and the University of Tehran in Iran.

Research

My current research is focusing on prototyping a new generation of stationary Redox Flow batteries, to be introduced as RedoxSolid-Flow batteries. It aims to use novel solid materials for energy storage in Redox-mediated flow batteries with aqueous solutions to enhance the energy capacity of conventional redox flow batteries. The research includes Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) and applying X-rays and beam line operando characterization techniques to understand the mechanism of charge transfer between solid matter and redox couple in RedoxSolid-Flow batteries.
