Research

I'm currently working as a post-doc researcher in the Department of Biology in the University Turku (partly also in the Department of Biological and Environmental Science in the University of Jyväskylä), studying the effects of glyphosate on plant-herbivore interactions and physiological functions, such as oxidative stress, gene expression and gut microbiota in non-target herbivores (e.g. Colorado potato beetle, Japanese quail). In my PhD theses, I studied the effects of metal pollution on breeding success and antioxidant defence in small passerine birds. In my work I have combined ecological, ecotoxicological, biochemical, physiological and genetic methods. Overall, my research interests have been to understand the human induced changes on animals from ecological, genetic and physiological perspective. I am broadly interested in ecological physiology and ecotoxicology as well as the effects of environmental changes on physiology, survival and reproduction in wild species. I have a versatile background for the study of ecotoxicological and ecophysiological questions and ornithology in broader scale.
