Areas of expertise
I am a postdoctoral fellow with special background in educational inequalities, children´s cultural and societal
participation, participatory disparities and socioeconomic inheritance. I am specialized in advanced statistical research methods and in comparative analyses.
I received an undergraduate Master´s degree in Education at the University of Jyväskylä before completing a PhD in Education under a joint supervision of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany and the University of Turku. My binational doctoral study focused on the person-internal and person-external determinants of children´s cultural participation in context of social inequalities (multidisciplinary approach including educational, psychological and sociological aspects).
I currently work as a senior researcher in a comparative longitudinal study on young people´s educational trajectories and learning of the 21st century skills in Europe, Australia, South America and North America (International Study of City Youth, ISCY). I am also actively involved in a multiple-cohort large-scale longitudinal research project Steps
to the Healthy Development and Well-Being of Children (The STEPS Study) and in an International Survey of Children’s Well-Being (ISCWeB). My focus of research is the equality of educational opportunities, risk and resilience in education, and educational pathways among children and youth.
