The thematic collaboration in Digital Futures is based on strong and diverse research on digitalisation at the University of Turku. Research related to this collaboration is conducted in all faculties. Digital Futures brings together researchers from different disciplines and enables and facilitates cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary co-operation.
Examples of current research areas include digitalisation of medicine and health care, digital learning environments, development of the platform economy and digital work, digital gaming and communications, innovative use of geospatial data, questions related to artificial intelligence, modern linguistics, robotics, and automated decision-making in different sectors of the society. These and many other contemporary questions are explored, for example from the perspectives of economics, law, ICT, digital health, history, geography, digital humanities, education, and social studies.
