Confirming the Study Place

If an applicant has completed her studies abroad, she needs to submit to the University of Turku the original degree certificate and transcript of study records or the officially certified or legalised copies of these documents (and official translations if needed). The right to study is conditional until the documents have been verified.

All applicants will be notified by email (if approved in your application form) for the results. The email will be sent to the address given in the application form. To maintain your right to doctoral studies, you have to confirm the study place by the given deadline. The deadline is informed in the email.

If you have a Finnish social security number (and you have given it in your application) and Finnish online banking credentials, mobile certificate or an electronic ID-card, you can confirm the study place by logging in to the My Studyinfo service at http://www.opintopolku.fi.

You will receive a separate e-mail from Study Info with a link to the My StudyInfo service. If you don’t receive the email, please check the junk email folder. The email will be sent from noreply@opintopolku.fi to the email address you provided when applying for the study place. In case you are not able to make the confirmation with your Finnish online banking credentials, you can confirm the study place by sending an e-mail to hakijapalvelut@utu.fi. Include the name of the doctoral programme and your whole name in the e-mail.

If you don’t have a Finnish social security number (or of you haven’t given it in your application), you will get a separate email including a confirmation link which you can use to confirm the study place.

When you confirm your study place, you will receive an automatic email notifying you that the study place has been confirmed successfully.

Confirming a study place is a binding choice, and you cannot cancel or change your choice later. When you confirm a study place, you will no longer be able to confirm any other study places which start at the same term in Finnish higher education institutions.

After you have confirmed the study place (and after verification of the authenticity of foreign degree certificates), you will be registered as an attending student at the University of Turku as of the beginning of the next academic year. When this is complete you will get an email which also includes the instructions on how to get an UTU account and a password.
