Language, cognitive and social development

From the very beginning of life, biological and social factors together affect children’s development in many ways. Demographic information, together with screening and assessment of developmental outcomes, can help professionals in health, education, and other welfare services to allocate resources to children with special needs.

We are interested in the following topics:

  • normative and deviant language and speech development
  • genetic, familial and neurobiological bases of speech and language impairment and learning difficulties
  • relations among musical skills and early language and reading
  • relations between symbolic play and  development of cross motor, fine motor and perceptual motor skills and language acquisition
  • neural basis of auditory and visual perception
