Child Day Care Services

Turku provides day care, pre-school education and playground activities for children under school age (7 years).

Day care offers an environment where the child is able to play, learn and participate in everyday routines. The premises, equipment and materials of day care are tailored to suit the age and needs of the child. An early childhood education plan is the guideline all municipal and private day care centres and family day care centres follow.

The following day care alternatives are available:
  • Municipal day care centre
  • Private day care centre
  • Family day care or three family day care
  • Play club activities

The electronic application and the fee calculator are services provided for new clients. These services do not require an electronic identification. The services enable the client to

  • fill in the day care application
  • register the child for pre-school education
  • estimate the family's day care fee
  • leave information about the guardian living at a different address

Please apply the day care 4 months before arrival or as soon as possible by sending the e-service form.

Municipal services are offered in Finnish and Swedish. In Rehtorinpellonkatu unit day care services are available in English, too. This unit is a Turku municipal day care centre located practically at UTU campus area, and belongs to Tuomaansilta day care centre.
