Faleh Abushahba Wins Nordic Hatton Award

Doctoral Candidate Faleh Abushahba from the Finnish Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences (FINDOS-Turku) won the NOF Nordic Hatton Award competition. The competition was organised in Madrid 19–20 September as a part of the CED-IADR/NOF conference on oral sciences.

Research at the Institute of Dentistry at the University of Turku has been active, innovative and internationally recognized since the early 1960's. The research has led to a number of clinical and commercial applications. Consequently, the Institute of Dentistry is known for its high-quality research. 

Studying at the Institute of Dentistry

The dental curriculum leads to a Licentiate in Dentistry degree, which is equivalent to a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree. Annually, 40 new students are accepted for the dental programme. Acceptance is based on a national exam, with fluency in the Finnish or Swedish language as a prerequisite. Thus, only applicants with proficiency in Finnish or Swedish may apply for the degree programme in dentistry.

Institute of Dentistry Ranked 18th Best in the World

The Institute of Dentistry at the University of Turku has been ranked the 18th best in the world in the latest subject-specific Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Only three other European universities made the top 20 in Dentistry & Oral Sciences, all the other places went to universities from the United States.
