The Uniting Companies and International University Talents (UNICOM) Project Has Launched – Focus on Supporting the Careers of International Talents

The UNICOM project aims to increase the current labour market’s appeal and openness to highly educated international talents already living in Southwest Finland. The ESF-funded project is coordinated by the University of Turku. The UNICOM project responds to the lack of talents in companies in three pre-selected fields (Health, Tech and Clean).

Juha Laine and Timo Veromaa Appointed as Professors of Practice at the University of Turku

Docent Juha Laine has been appointed as Professor of Practice in Pharmacoeconomics and Dr. Timo Veromaa Professor of Practice in Drug Development. The appointments strengthen the operations of the InFLAMES Flagship, joint effort of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, funded by the Academy of Finland. Both professors of practice have been offered part-time positions for the duration of the InFLAMES Flagship funding period.

Culture Campus Turku to Become a New Platform for Developing Culture Sector Activities

The City of Turku, University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University, Turku University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Finnish University of Applied Sciences and Arts Ltd, Turun musiikinopetus Oy, and Turku Science Park Ltd have signed a collaboration agreement on launching the co-operation platform of Culture Campus Turku.

Entrepreneurs in Residence

Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiR) is a programme that involves entrepreneurs in the activities of Turku School of Economics in variety of ways. The objective of the EiR programme is to increase the participation and presence of active entrepreneurs in the school. The unique programme started in autumn 2020 and no similar cooperation programme between entrepreneurs and a university exists in Finland.

Doctoral Candidates of Drug Research Trained in Close Collaboration with the Industry

In 2019, the University of Turku launched a new doctoral training in collaboration with partners from the drug industry. A major part of the training is carried out in an industrial environment. The training also includes postgraduate studies and academic secondments in the University’s research groups. The training educates experts specialised in industrial research and product development.
