Turku Bioscience Centre

Turku Bioscience Centre is an advanced core facility and research centre hosted jointly by University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University.

The Centre was established in 1992 to facilitate research infrastructure services and scientific interactions across departments and within the two universities. We offer services to both academic and commercially-oriented research projects.

Successful Innovation Collaboration of University of Turku and Singapore Maritime Institute Continued

The University of Turku and the Singapore Maritime Institute collaborated for the second time in organising the Finland–Singapore Maritime Innovation Camp. The winning team was announced on the final day of the camp held in Singapore on 11–16 January 2020. The camp was organised in collaboration with the business partners Jurong Port, MacGregor, and The China Navigation Company.

University of Turku Participates in Smart Health for Europe Event on October 7

The University of Turku, in collaboration with Novartis Finland Oy, Business Finland, the University of Eastern Finland, and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, organises a Smart Health for Europe seminar at Musiikkitalo on October 7, 2019. The seminar explores future health ecosystems and networks with Smart Health stakeholders from start-ups to healthcare decision makers, investors and more. The Finnish EU Presidency in 2019 provides a great opportunity to discuss the combination of legislation, health sector growth, research and development, and start-ups. 

University Takes Technology and AI Research to SHIFT Business Festival

The University of Turku participates in the SHIFT Business Festival on 29–30 August with two themes: using technology in the sustainable development of the maritime and food industries and the interaction between humans and machines. The theme of SHIFT 2019 is Shapeshifting intelligence, which looks beyond the hype for a more holistic view of intelligent business.

University of Turku to Join an International Quantum Community – the IBM Q Network Promotes Quantum Technological Change in Research and Business Co-operation

The Turku Quantum Technology research team has joined the international IBM Q Network as part of the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Technology of the Academy of Finland. The aim of the network is to promote the development of quantum computers and to create new applications based on quantum technology. The European universities included in the network were announced at the World Conference of Science Journalists held in Lausanne on 3 July 2019.

University of Turku Aims to Strengthen Co-operation with China

Jukka Kola, who will take up his Rector’s term in the University of Turku in August, has strengthened the University’s ties with Chinese universities during his visit in Hangzhou, China. The discussions raised an idea of an alliance of four universities, with the co-operation focusing especially on health, well-being, food sciences and corporate collaboration. The official negotiations are to be started in the fall.
