University of Turku Has Joined International OpenAPC-service

University of Turku is now a member of international OpenAPC service which collects information of open access costs paid by the universities. Data is based on University of Turku book-keeping records which has been enriched at the library by publication data. At the moment OpenAPCs-service covers information of open access publication cost paid by the University of Turku from the years 2017-2018 and beginning of 2019 (January-April 2019). 

Agreements with Wiley and Taylor & Francis at Risk

The FinELib consortium’s negotiations with two major publishers, Wiley and Taylor & Francis, ended at the end of 2018 without reaching a new agreement. At the University of Turku, the publishers’ online journals can be used until the end of January, and FinELib and the Turku University Library aim to ensure the researchers, teachers, and students’ access to the articles also in the future.

AI Watson Learns Finnish in Turku

For a decade, researchers at the University of Turku have been developing a technology that is able to interpret Finnish. Technology company IBM utilises the technology developed in Turku to teach Watson Finnish.
