The Library imports publications by the University of Turku researchers into the Current Research Information System (UTUCRIS) throughout the year from several international and national databases. Approximately 50% of all university publication information can be gathered through database searches.
Predatory journals are publications that collect publication fees from authors but do not follow good scientific publishing practices. Recently there has been much discussion about predatory journals and publishers, as well as the gray area of publishing. Where can one find help in evaluating journals, especially in identifying predatory ones?
Turku University Library asks researchers to check their publications in the UTUCRIS research information system and to report any missing publications published in 2023. Online first publications can also be reported. Reporting publications already at this time of the year evens out the rush in validation at the turn of the year.
The independent scientific academy of the UK, the Royal Society, was founded in the 1660s. Royal Society publishes journals across the entire range of science. From April 1, 2023, the library has made one-year agreement with the publisher for University of Turku allowing the corresponding authors affiliated to University of Turku to publish their articles Open Access with 25 % discount of the APCs.
The agreement between Taylor & Francis and FinELib consortium for the agreement period 2023-24 is complete. The agreement includes both reading rights and open access publishing free of extra charge for the staff and students of University of Turku.
