The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Turku marked its 80th anniversary this year and celebrated its doctors and honorary doctors with a traditional ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees on 25–27 May 2023.

They will receive the title of honorary doctor for their scientific merits, collaboration with the Faculty, and their impact on society.
The Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of the University of Turku was arranged on Friday, 27 May 2022. The festivities, which lasted for two days, begun already on Thursday 26th May with the traditional Sword Sharpening Ceremony.
The Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of the University of Turku will be arranged on Friday, 27 May 2022. The Conferment Ceremony begins at 11.00am at Logomo, and the entire event will also be directly streamed online. The Academic Procession making its way from the City Theatre to the Cathedral can be observed and followed starting from 3.00 pm (weather permitting).
Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General of the International Baccalaureate Organization, and Martin Thrupp, Professor at New Zealand's Univeristy of Waikato, will give their honorary doctoral lectures at the end of My. The title of Heinonen's lecture is "What have I learned in 30 years about educational reforms?" and the title of Thrupp's presentation is "Education academics in small countries: Comparing notes between New Zealand and Finland". Both lectures can be followed remotely and you can also attend Thrupp's lecture at the University of Turku.
The Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of the University of Turku will be organised on 26–27 May 2022. In the ceremony, 15 honorary doctors will be conferred. They will be awarded honorary doctoral degrees for their scientific merits, collaboration with the University of Turku, or because their actions have had an impact on society. The honorary doctors will be conferred in the Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees organised in Logomo centre for events in Turku on Friday, 27 May 2022 starting at 11am.
The University of Turku organises a Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of all the faculties on 26–27 May 2022. On Monday, 17 January registration will be opened at 12pm for all doctors whose doctoral degrees have been accepted before 17 January 2022.
The ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees, planned previously for 2020 and then postponed to May 2021, has been postponed again due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new dates for the ceremonial conferment will be announced later.
The next Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of the University of Turku is organised on 28–29 May 2020. 15 honorary doctors will be conferred in the ceremony. They will receive title of the honorary doctor for their scientific merits, collaboration with the University of Turku, or because their actions have had an impact on society.
