The objective of the strategic funding programme is to develop the University’s multidisciplinary approach to education and to support the objective of increasing the number of international students.
In February 2023, a delegation of teachers from the Czech Republic spent two weeks in Finland as part of a training period during which they observed the Finnish teaching and education system.
The University of Turku and Polar Partners Ltd. collaborate to develop online courses which encapsulate the Finnish educational expertise in an easily adoptable manner. The courses of the Top Teacher programme are aimed at teachers and education specialist around the world who wish to deepen their existing professional skills with the Finnish education model and know-how.
The University of Turku, the University of Münster and the University Medical Center Utrecht are developing new solutions for online teaching based on visual material. During the EU-sponsored project, which will run until 2023, new digital tools coupled with innovative pedagogical scenarios will be tested in the teaching of pathology. At the University of Turku, there are researchers from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Medicine involved in the project.
Within the framework of the University’s global education services, the University has made a significant, multi-year partnership agreement with the Chilean Plus Finland education sector company. Teachers from the Teacher Training School of the University of Turku planned and will be organising a training programme for the Plus Finland’s selected trainers, after which these trainers who have received training in accordance with the programme will put it into practice in the local schools to train the Chilean principals.
BOOST YOUR TEACHING is a series of online happenings and UP!-blog texts aiming to support teachers to develop their teaching and adapting to new ways to teach at higher education during and after COVID-19 pandemic. The happenings are organised by UTUPEDA – Centre for University Pedagogy and Research.
A project funded by the Nordplus programme, Design thinking in health technology education – Design Future Health – GREAT received continuation to the course held online last spring as the week-long intensive course GREAT Design Thinking was finished successfully. To finish off the week, the students had the opportunity to present their own, design-thinking based solutions to real-life challenges.
The KiVa Program has now been in use at the Liberty School, Paraguay, for over four years. It was not straightforward to manage to become a KiVa School – but Liberty is now a proud, satisfied and active member of the global “KiVa Schools Community”.
The coronavirus pandemic has moved education online, but has not stopped the global interest towards KiVa Antibullying Program. A new extension agreement has just been made in New Zealand and the use of this antibullying program is currently negotiated in the Middle East and South East Asia as well.
The Department of Nursing Science at the University of Turku has received almost EUR 400,000 in EU funding for research and development of European nurse educator education. In addition to Finland, Spain, Germany, Malta, Scotland, and Slovakia will take part in the project. From Finland, also the University of Eastern Finland is a partner.
