In the first joint application round of 2024, the international Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku received a total of 10 239 applications. The number of applications grew by 72 percent compared to the number of applications in 2023.

The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) Alliance celebrated the end of its pilot phase and the start of a new phase in a joint Forum.

The two-day visit included meetings on topical issues, preparations for the Annual Conference which is organised in Turku in the summer of 2024, and participation in the Europe Forum.

The European Commission has granted €14.4 million in continued funding to the EC2U Alliance that develops European university education and research as well as stakeholder collaboration. The University of Turku has been a member of the Alliance from the beginning. In its upcoming second phase, the Alliance grows with new members and activities.

This spring, the European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) Allliance offered student teachers an opportunity to complete a 2-4-week classroom internship at a school in one of the EC2U cities. Five students from the University of Turku took this chance and one student from Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena in Germany arrived in Turku.

New research ideas and perspectives, new partners and a renewed enthusiasm for one's own subject area rose up as result of the EC2U Winter School of Multilingualism, European Languages and Societies organised by the University of Turku. Multilingualism attracted more than an expected number of students, researchers and teachers to snowy Turku.

In the first joint application round of 2023, the international Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku attracted a total of 5,958 applications. The number of applications grew by a record-breaking 76 percent compared to the number of applications in 2022. The greatest growth was seen in the Master’s degree programmes in Gender Studies and in Mechanical Engineering.
