University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University, Turku University of Applied Sciences and Novia University of Applied Sciences are now collaborating more closely in EU advocacy. The aim is to raise awareness of the higher education institutions’ top research and expertise areas within the European Union and promote their active role in key research networks and decision-making processes.
TechCampus Turku offers RDI vouchers to micro-enterprises and SMEs that wish to collaborate with higher education institutions in Turku. Vouchers are available for research and assessment projects, analysis and measurement services, project application preparation, and thesis work.
The higher education institutions in Turku area, i.e. University of Turku, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Åbo Akademi University and Novia University of Applied Sciences, organised a joint sustainability event on 19 September 2023. Students, researchers and staff from all universities were invited to participate, discuss and learn about sustainability.
Combined effort of six European universities, the ENVISION_2027 Erasmus+ project had its final meeting in Turku on 30 May–1 June. The project focused on digital education in bioscience studies, addressing both the current need of transitioning from conventional classroom teaching into digital remote teaching, as well as improving the current status of online teaching and e-learning course modules across Europe.
The purpose of the visit was to maintain and strengthen the visibility and cooperation of the Turku Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences with relevant EU actors in Brussels. Furthermore, the goal was to ensure that the voices of the higher education institutions are being heard in the decision-making processes and that necessary support from the EU is received in the future.
Turku is known for its higher education institutions, Turku University Hospital, and as a hub for pharmaceutical companies. For a long time, the city has been a collaboration platform for several contributors in research and education and birthplace of new innovations. Health care competence in Turku is, in many respects, of the top quality in Finland.

The city of Turku and the higher education institutions in the area consider it important that the international students enjoy their stay in Turku. When international students feel at home in Turku, they are more likely to return to the banks of Aurajoki river – or even to stay to live in the city after they have graduated.
