Aboagora is a three-day international event that has been held in Turku since 2011, when the city was one of the European Capitals of Culture. It brings together researchers, artists and the public to promote dialogue between science and art. Over the years, the event has established itself as an important platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue and exchange of ideas.
On 9 December 2024, the four universities and universities of applied sciences in Turku hosted an event in Brussels that explored the ways in which higher education institutions contribute to the European partnerships and how they can work more effectively with companies to achieve the goals of the European Union.
Collaboration between the universities in Turku and a start-up company was key to one of the first successful research projects at Health Campus Turku. The project studied the effects of simulating a natural environment on the stress levels and well-being of people.

The higher education institutions in Turku, together with other Finnish and Nordic partners in Brussels, organised a joint event The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Ensuring the EU's Competitiveness and Resilience. The event took place in Brussels during the Research and Innovation Week launched by the European Commission.
University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University, Turku University of Applied Sciences and Novia University of Applied Sciences are now collaborating more closely in EU advocacy. The aim is to raise awareness of the higher education institutions’ top research and expertise areas within the European Union and promote their active role in key research networks and decision-making processes.
TechCampus Turku offers RDI vouchers to micro-enterprises and SMEs that wish to collaborate with higher education institutions in Turku. Vouchers are available for research and assessment projects, analysis and measurement services, project application preparation, and thesis work.
The higher education institutions in Turku area, i.e. University of Turku, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Åbo Akademi University and Novia University of Applied Sciences, organised a joint sustainability event on 19 September 2023. Students, researchers and staff from all universities were invited to participate, discuss and learn about sustainability.
Combined effort of six European universities, the ENVISION_2027 Erasmus+ project had its final meeting in Turku on 30 May–1 June. The project focused on digital education in bioscience studies, addressing both the current need of transitioning from conventional classroom teaching into digital remote teaching, as well as improving the current status of online teaching and e-learning course modules across Europe.
