Application for the Master's Degree Programme in Education and Learning

Application period

The application period for studies starting in August 2018 will start on 1 December 2017 and end 31 January 2018.

The results of the student selection will be published on 30 March 2018 on this webpage and all the applicants will be notified personally by email.

Who can apply​

To be an eligible applicant you should have:

a) Bachelor’s degree in education, adult education, special education, or in other domains relevant to the master’s programme (e.g. social sciences or humanities) are eligible to apply to the programme.

OR

a Bachelor's degree from other fields of study, AND who have either an official teacher’s qualification, or who can prove a clear affinity to educational sciences are eligible to apply to the programme. The degree must include at least three years of studies.

OR

a Finnish first-cycle polytechnic degree called ammattikorkeakoulututkinto and who either have completed basic and intermediate studies (altogether min. 60 ECTS) in education, special education or adult education, or have completed basic studies (min. 25 ECTS) in education and can prove a clear affinity to educational sciences are also eligible to apply to the programme

AND

b) a good command of English (as defined in the Application requirements 2018 document)

The application requirements are the same for the Master's degree programme in Learning, Learning Environments and the Finnish-German Master Programme in Education.

How to apply 

Read the detailed instructions concerning the application requirements and application process in the Application requirements 2018.  

An important matter to take care of is that you sign up for a language test as much in advance as possible. The language test results must reach the University of Turku by the application deadline.

The application will be filled in and submitted online. The required application enclosures are returned to the  the Univeristy of Turku by the end of the Application period, further instructions will be given later. 

Application form 

Applicants have to fill all the required information concerning the previous studies on the electronic application template. The applicant should also add an abstract (max. 200 words) and a title for a Bachelor’s thesis (if applicable) and a Letter of Motivation (max 4000 characters).

The Letter of Motivation should cover the following five issues:

1) Describe your reasons for applying for the programme.

2) Describe your strengths and capacities.

3) How does the programme relate to your previous studies (e.g. field of specialization, research methodology studied) or work?

4) What is the topic of your research interest? Why and how would you investigate it?

5) How does the topic of the programme contribute to your personal development and to the development of your professional expertise?

In addition, applicants for the double degree option are expected to state the reasons why they would like to study also at the University of Regensburg.
