Foresight of Evolving Security Threats Posed by Emerging Technologies (FESTOS)

The potential malicious use of new technologies is closely related to terrorism and organised crime. The main goal of the study was to identify and assess these potentially evolving threats and to propose policy guidelines (in national and EU-level) to be undertaken in order to reduce the likelihood of their realisation.

The project was funded within the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union and it was carried out during 2008-2011. Interdisciplinary Center for Technology Analysis and Forecasting (ICTAF, Tel-Aviv University) worked as the coordinator of the project.
