Postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

The postgraduate degrees in Natural Sciences are the Licentiate of Philosophy (LicPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). A postgraduate degree in Technology, namely Licentiate of Science (Technology) and Doctor of Science (Technology), can be carried out in analytical biotechnology, electronics, food development and information or communication technology.

All students pursuing a postgraduate degree at the faculty belong to the University of Turku Graduate School (UTUGS) and to one of its doctoral programmes.

How to apply and application periods


Next application periods for doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

  • September 1 - 20, 2017
  • March 1-20, 2018

In the September 2017 call  you can apply for:

A) The right to pursue a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Turku AND/OR
B) Fixed-term Doctoral Candidate position

The right to study will begin on January 1, 2018.

In the March 2018 call  you can apply for:
The right to pursue a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Turku

The right to study will begin on August 1, 2018.

NOTE: Call for applications, the detailed application instructions and the link to the application form for each of the doctoral programme of the faculty will be published by the end of June 2017 on the www-pages of an each programme. Please follow our pages for updates!
