Mika got his M.Sc. here at the Turku School of Economics, but then he moved to Helsinki and got his D.Sc. from Hanken School of Economics. He was also a student at the Graduate School of Finance and Financial Accounting. With the help of the ASLA-Fulbright scholarship he also visited Kellogg Graduate School of Management at the Northwestern University in the USA. After working as Assistant Professor at the Helsinki School of Economics and as Director of the Finance Institute at LTT Research Ltd, Mika was appointed as Professor of Finance at the Lappeenranta University of Technology. Today Mika is appointed as Professor of Finance (tenure) at the Turku School of Economics.

Mika teaches both bachelor and master level courses at the TSE e.g. Intermediate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Financial Modeling and Simulation, and Asset Pricing and Portfolio Management Theory. He also teaches at the eMBA program. He has acted as a pre-examiner and opponent for several doctoral theses. At TSE, he supervises theses at master’s, doctoral, and eMBA levels.

Research Interests

Mika’s research focuses mostly on empirical finance, including studies on corporate finance, asset pricing and portfolio management as well as long-term history of Finnish financial markets.
