Biography

I am a Digital Futures Assistant Professor in Information Systems Science at Turku School of Economics. I also hold an Adjunct Professorship of Information Systems at University of Oulu. 

I am interested in how digital technologies shape our lives. For example, I have tried to understand why teens spend their (or their parents') real money in virtual worlds, to what extent voeurism and exhibitionism explain people's Facebook use, or why people use Spotify.

2012-2015 I worked on my Academy of Finland Post-doc project. The purpose of the project was to better understand create value for themselves and for other people from using social media.

Awards

Doctoral dissertation 'Continuous use and purchasing behaviour in social virtual worlds' received the Highly Commended Award 2012 based on its scientific merits in the marketing research category of the Doctoral Dissertation Awards organized by Emerald Publishing and European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
