Recruitment Campaign of the University of Turku: Significant Enhancement of Research, Development and Innovation in Artificial Intelligence for Future Technologies

Now, the University of Turku invites applications for several professorships as well as other permanent faculty positions at the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Professors in Data Science, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics, and Statistics

The Faculty of Science and Engineering invites candidates for eleven faculty positions starting in August 2018. Appointment will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track), or Full Professor (permanent position).

For the positions of Assistant Professor, we seek highly talented and already merited researchers beyond their post doc phase yet still at their early academic career, who have shown potential, initiative, and innovation in research and teaching. Candidates for associate or full professorships are expected to have a distinguished academic career and an established international reputation in their fields, as well as an excellent publication record and success in acquiring external research funding. We expect the candidates be active members of academic and societal networks with live contacts with business, trade and industry.

The professorships are in the following areas:

Four Positions in Data Science with orientation to Health; Humanities; Human Languages; and Human Learning

Four Positions in Information and Communication Technologies with specialization in Autonomous Systems and Robotics; Cyber Security Engineering; Software Engineering and Digitalization; and Virtual and Augmented Reality Systems Engineering

Two Positions in Mathematics with specialization in Complex Systems; and Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science

One Position in Statistics with orientation to Computational Statistics

To support the good start of the work of the new professors in data science and ICT in the new environment, we offer them start funding which enables a full professor to hire a post doc and a PhD student, and an associate or assistant professor to hire either a post doc or a PhD student for four years. The exact format of the support can be negotiated individually.

Eight Open Rank Permanent Teaching Faculty Positions

The Faculty of Science and Engineering invites candidates for several faculty positions starting August 2018. Eight Open Rank Permanent Teaching Faculty Positions are open for researchers between post doc and professor level in Communication Systems Security; Data Science; Data Science and Engineering Education; Digital Health; and Software Engineering.

Successful candidates are appointed to permanent positions. The title of the position (University Teacher, University Lecturer, or University Research Fellow) will be defined based on the qualification and merits of the candidate. Further career advancement is possible based on personal qualification.

Excellent candidates with expertise in the field overlapping several open positions or falling in between the specific descriptions of the open positions are also encouraged to apply. For each position, we retain the right to not hire anybody or hire more than one person.
