Research Centre of Applied and Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine

Research Centre of Applied and Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine (CAPC) is a scientific research establishment for clinical and experimental studies in the area of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. One of the Centre’s main research aims is focused on the pathophysiological mechanisms of cardiorespiratory diseases and the application of the results to clinical use. 

Also, the Centre is responsible for teaching respiratory and cardiovascular physiology to medical students and it also participates in education of young scientists and PhD students. 

The Centre has a strong research and education tradition, and in addition to the regular staff there are more than 20 research workers representing various branches of medicine. The Centre provides for its researchers an extensive basic knowledge background and opportunity for innovative and multicultural scientific work.

Research Centre of Applied and Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine is an independent unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, and it is headed by the Administrative Board and Director
