Any chance I can get a library card?

A library card can be ordered through the internet or obtained free of charge from any of the library units by providing an identity card and an address in Finland.

Opening Hours and Contact Information

Which library is open right now?
During the academic year all the libraries are open on weekdays. Teutori Library is also open on Saturdays and Feeniks Library on weekends. Exceptional opening hours are announced in the libraries' info-TVs, the library websites and social media.




I need a course book, where can I get one?

Course books are available in both printed and electronic format. Books can be found by the title or author in the Volter database. Volter also tells you which library has them and whether there are books available on a shelf or not.


How long can I keep a book to myself?

Course books can be borrowed for two weeks and other books for four weeks. There are also exeptions so check the return dates carefully!

No course books available, do I have to reset my exam?

Some course books are also in e-format, make sure you check this out! You can access e-books 24/7, wherever you are.

If a book you are looking for is on loan, make a reservation. It is free and usually works fast. Remember to check the overnight loans as well!

Does the library come in pocket-size?

If your mobile fits into your pocket, then yes it does! You can access e-resources whenever, wherever.


How much does it cost?

A library card, borrowing, renewal and reservations are totally free. You don't need to pay anything if you return your loans on time and in good condition. Some services such as interlibrary loans cost a little, check the fees in our Pricelist of Services.

Is the library 24/7?

Yes! Volter database and electronic resources are available around the clock. Also, If you fancy some midnight reading, some campus libraries have 24/7 reading areas accessible with a university keycard.

Do I always need to be quiet in the library?

Of course not! Only red zones require total silence. Red zone is meant for silent study without laptops or mobile devices.

Can I leave my laptop home?

No worries if you forgot your laptop home, you can borrow a laptop from any of the libraries. The Feeniks Library also has ipads to borrow and graphing and function calculators can be borrowed from the Quantum Library.

I am print disabled, can the library help me?

Yes! You are entitled to an extended loan period for course books. The first loan period is extended for one week.

You can also become a Celia customer by contacting Turku University Library. University students with print disabilities can borrow textbooks free of charge from Celia.

There are plenty of extensive handbooks and reference works to get into your subject. Yuo find them in Volter database by searching with your subject or using search words such as handbook, encyclopedia or companion, for example education AND handbook, geography AND companion or economics AND encyclopedia.
