TransAudibility: Non-Binary Voices in Music Scenes

Aika

20.5.2019 klo 20.00 - 23.00
How are trans voices received and heard in music scenes, on- and off-stage? Whose voices do we get to hear, and are trans voices immediately shut down? What potential do trans voices have in punk and noise scenes?

Trans voices are a new, quickly evolving field of research especially interesting for music and voice researchers. Turun Kirjakahvila and Department of Musicology (University of Turku), together with Turku FemFest music festival, are now putting together a semi-academic discussion event and a corresponding gig on the subject. In the discussion, trans-queer-feminist artist/manager Maja Hagedorn and musicologist Anniina Kauppinen discuss trans audibility and their meaning in music scenes, on- and off-stage. In addition, queer* noise artist Camille Auer provides a music performance.
