On the Flavoria Innovation Festival course, students work in multidisciplinary teams to tackle real-world challenges from industry and society. The goal is to develop new ideas, concepts, and solutions in collaboration with students from different fields and industry partners.
The published challenges give participants an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the topics before the course begins. This allows students to identify areas of interest and prepare for the innovation process in advance. This year’s challenges are provided by companies operating in the organic food sector. The participating companies are Lassen Luomu, Vihreä Härkä, Ketolan Tila, Valio, and Suomi Siitake.
The Flavoria Innovation Festival is known for its hands-on and collaborative approach, where innovation and teamwork play a central role. The course provides participants with valuable experience in innovation, project work, and combining diverse perspectives to create new solutions.
The Flavoria Innovation Festival is a week-long innovation event and academic course during which multidisciplinary student teams work on challenges provided by companies across the food value chain. In 2026, the Innovation Festival will be organized for the fifth consecutive year, with organic innovations serving as the main theme.
Flavoria Innovation Festival 2026 is organized as part of the “FoRDI – Accelerating RDI in the Food Sector through New Operating Models” project, co-funded by the EU, and the “OrganicInnovations” project, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland. The Innovation Festival is carried out by Business Turku and the Nutrition and Food Research Center, University of Turku.
