The University of Turku was established in 1920 as the first Finnish-language university in the world. Today, we are an active community of 20 000 students, out of which 1 500 are international students. We welcome annually around 500 incoming exchange students to study at our seven faculties and collaborate with over 400 universities worldwide.
Each faculty offers a range of courses in English and students are often able to combine studies from different faculties. Our friendly and helpful staff aims to offer high-quality services for incoming exchange students in order to facilitate a smooth start for their studies in Finland. Every exchange student is assigned a student tutor, who helps with practical matters and introduces the Finnish way of life and academic culture to their tutees.
Our housing provider TYS offers reasonably-priced and furnished student accommodation, which is available for most incoming students. Being a member of the Student Union entitles exchange students to many student benefits, and ESN Uni Turku offers a large variety of activities for all international students!
