Open University Studies

Open university studies - open to everyone

Open university studies are generally open to everyone, regardless of age, educational goals or previous schooling. Most of the open university studies offered are taught in Finnish, but we also organise studies in English. Many of the courses are offered online. Check out the study opportunities!

Open University studies are courses that are part of the degree programmes of the University of Turku. You can choose courses in different fields according to your own interests.

You can participate in open university studies with different goals: you can develop your professional skills, take courses as part of your own studies or study something new out of interest. Good English language skills are required to complete the courses.

Open university studies are organised in cooperation with the faculties of the university. Courses are implemented as face-to-face teaching at the University of Turku or as online courses. The learning requirements correspond to those of corresponding degree studies. The degree cannot be completed through open university studies, but the credits can be included in a university degree.

The right to study is usually obtained by registering for courses and paying tuition fees. However, please note that open university studies are mainly targeted for those already living in Finland. Open university students are not entitled to the same financial or social benefits as degree students, nor do the open university studies give the right to obtain a residence permit.
