Biography
Akhgar Kaboli is a futurist and social scientist affiliated with the Finland Futures Research Centre at the University of Turku. Her research focuses on images of the future, uncertainty, temporality, and how people imagine, experience, and navigate futures in everyday life.
Teaching
Akhgar has teaching and supervision experience in Futures Studies at the University of Turku. Her teaching has covered futures thinking and methods, images of the future, Causal Layered Analysis (CLA), and qualitative research approaches. She has contributed to several FUTULAB courses as a lecturer and responsible teacher and has supervised master’s theses and participated in thesis evaluation.
Research
Akhgar’s research explores how individuals and societies relate to, imagine, and navigate the future. Her interests span futures studies, social change, uncertainty, human agency, and the ways social and institutional conditions shape experiences, expectations, and possibilities for the future. Her work combines qualitative and interpretive approaches with futures and foresight methods to examine societal questions.
