Yilmaz

Betül Yılmaz is a Doctoral Researcher in Operations & Supply Chain Management at the Turku School of Economics (TSE), University of Turku, in Finland. She holds a master's degree with honors in International Trade and Logistics from Istanbul, Türkiye. Her research sits at the intersection of international trade policy, supply chain governance, business and human rights, and social sustainability.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a Programme Advisor at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI). In this role, she supported projects integrating international human rights standards into policy and practice across areas such as business and human rights, inclusive societies, and gender equality.

Her earlier work, including her master’s thesis and her book Social Sustainability (2024, in Turkish), applied content analysis to examine how social sustainability and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards are represented in corporate reporting. Her latest book, "Chains of Responsibility: Human Rights and the Limits of Supply Chain Governance" (2026, in English), examines the evolution of the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive from its original ambition to the Omnibus I amendments. Drawing on governance theory and litigation across multiple jurisdictions, it assesses the Directive's changing regulatory approach.
