Mikkola

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Media Studies. My research focuses on audiovisual culture, human–animal studies, and the environmental humanities, with particular attention to wildlife, conservation, and more-than-human relations. I am the Director of the Steering Group of the Turku Human–Animal Studies Network (TYKE).

My PhD dissertation explored the audiovisual aesthetics of wildlife documentaries and their engagement with multispecies agencies. My research centers on the relationships between humans, nonhuman animals, environments, and technologies.
