Aniyamuzaala

Dr James R. Aniyamuzaala is an interdisciplinary researcher and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) professional whose work focuses on green inclusive-co-design, assistive technology, accessibility, innovation, equity, and disability inclusion. Dr Aniyamuzaala has contributed to international research and policy on inclusive co-design, assistive technology and accessibility. He served as one of 12 international technical members of the World Health Organization (WHO) Ad-hoc Advisory Committee on Assistive Technology, contributing to the development of the WHO–UNICEF Global Report on Assistive Technology(2022). He has also contributed to the work of the Global Alliance on Accessible Technologies and Environments (GAATES).

Dr Aniyamuzaala was a co-author of a UNICEF Uganda Research study on the situation of children with disabilities in Uganda in 2016. He  co-authored the 2016 Care International research study,Women, Work & War: Syrian Women and the Struggle to Survive Five Years of Conflict. Dr. James published a human rights article titled Raising Our Voices for an Inclusive Society: Opportunities and Challenges of Uganda’s Disability Rights Movement in the Oxford Journal of Human Rights Practice. He has led and contributed to evaluations of development and humanitarian projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe. Between 2019 and 2022, he provided technical guidance on a gender, age, and disability protection analysis conducted for the Syria Resilience Consortium. He co-developed CARE International in Uganda’s five-year Business Plan for 2021–2025. He also co-developed the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Guidelines for CARE International in Uganda in 2024. Between 2023 and 2026, he served as a visiting scholar at the University of Rwanda, where he co-developed and taught a course module on Assistive Technology Public Policies and Legislation.
