Biography

I am a passionate exploration Geologist with over 16 years of working experience and a track record of managerial and leadership roles in various disciplines of geosciences projects, Government departments/directorates, human resources, and community societies. I hold a BSc in Geology majoring in Geology and Chemistry from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania (2009); MSc in Oil and Gas Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom (2015), and I am currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Turku (2024-2028). I work with the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) since 2010 from a Graduate to a Principal Geologist and Head of the Geita Lake Zone Office. I have been leading several mineral exploration projects in Tanzania since 2012. Through such works, I discovered gold, tin, limestone, graphite, iron, copper, various gemstones, and coal in different parts of Tanzania where mining activities are now operated. My research interests include geology, mineralogy, geochemistry, ore characterization, mineral exploration and economics, environmental studies, petroleum systems, and geo-heritage. I have published some papers/articles on geology, geochemistry, environmental studies, petroleum and mineralogy. Furthermore, I am a member of different professional bodies like the Tanzania Geological Society (TGS), Society for geology applied to mineral deposits (SGA), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Geological Society of Africa (GSA), Geosciences Information in Africa (GIRAF), African Geoparks Network (AGN), Society of Economic Geologist (SEG) and an affiliated member of the Royal Society of Chemistry London.

Teaching

I have been working or supporting as a teaching assistance in mineral exploration, bedrock geology and ore geology related courses in Finland for three consecutive years from 2024 to date. I am also participating in course planning and development and supervising Masters students in their given assignments and while writing their master thesis or dissertation.

Research

My research focuses on the mineralization processes of battery and base metals, specifically examining the Svecofennian metallogenic provinces. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms behind the mineralization of these metals, with an emphasis on identifying their sources, the nature of the enriching fluids, and the timing of deposit formation. I will explore how battery and base metals form and concentrate in various geological environments. Additionally, the research aims to predict and validate the processes that contribute to the formation of these minerals, including hydrothermal activity, weathering and supergene enrichment, metamorphism, and magmatism. Furthermore, this study will compare different regions within the Svecofennian metallogenic provinces of Sweden and Finland, known for their rich mineral deposits. The comparative analysis will focus on the types of mineral deposits, geological settings, fluid origins, and mineralization processes present in these provinces.
