Biography

I am a scientist invested in the development of soft stimuli-responsive materials that adapt to their operation conditions in smart nanotechnologies, with a particular interest in renewable energy conversion in photovoltaics and memory elements. I lead the Smart Energy Materials Group as Associate Professor in Materials Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Turku in Finland since September 2024, as well as at Adolphe Merkle Institute as a Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA Fellow and Assistant Professor at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. My research relies on a multidisciplinary approach at the interface of chemistry, physics, material science, and engineering to develop functional materials and devices. I operate within an international collaborative network of researchers worldwide, and I am dedicated to science outreach, policy, and diplomacy, supporting scientists globally.

Functional supramolecular materials (KEMI6537)

Research

Our research interests are centered around the development of bioinspired (supra)molecular materials for smart nanotechnologies that can respond to external stimuli and adapt to their operation conditions, with a particular interest in renewable energy conversion in photovoltaics and memory elements. We rely on a multidisciplinary approach and international collaborations at the interface of chemistry, physics, material science, and engineering in the design, synthesis, and characterization of materials and devices.
