Biography
LL.M., M.Sc. (Tech) Marjaana Sjölund is a project researcher in the LAWPOL project. Combining expertise in both IT and legal domains, her tasks bridge technology and law. Her work involves e.g. exploring historical legislative drafting materials and converting them into machine-readable format, testing the semantic similarity of various texts and conceptualizing a generative language model under the working title "Tarmo Bot".
Teaching
Together with colleagues, Sjölund has created a new MOOC course titled Lainvalmistelu ja siihen vaikuttaminen, and has taught for several years a course focused on Lawradar (Lakitutka) and the fundamentals of law-drafting for law students.
Research
Sjölund’s doctoral research focuses on the exercise of power related to forests, in law-drafting and self-regulation, and in the practises of forest use and management.
