Mikael Mattlin is TIAS Collegium Researcher, Adjunct Professor and Lecturer (on leave of absence) at the University of Turku.
He also holds non-resident research fellowships at the Nottingham University China Policy Institute (www.nottingham.ac.uk/iaps/cpi/index.aspx) and the European Research Centre on Contemporary Taiwan (www.ercct.uni-tuebingen.de).
Dr Mattlin previously worked as Professor of Chinese Studies in the University of Helsinki (2018–19), Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Turku (2014–17), Research Fellow at The Finnish Institute of International Affairs (2011–13), and University Lecturer of World Politics at the University of Helsinki (2008–10). He has been a visiting scholar at Fudan University, BOFIT (the Finnish central bank), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Academia Sinica, National University of Singapore, Tübingen University and West-Bohemian University. Dr Mattlin also acts as Ombudsman for the Foundation for Foreign Policy Research and occasionally as a high-level Chinese interpreter.
