Biography

I earned my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Center for Biomaterials, Biomedical Research Institute (BMI), Korea Institute of Science & Technology (KIST), Seoul, South Korea in the year 2018. I won an Overseas Research Fellowship from University of Science and Technology (UST), South Korea, and visited Nankai University, Tianjin, China as an exchange doctoral student for 6 months. I received my postdoctoral fellowship at Kyushu University, Japan as a fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and carried out cooperative research for 2 years. I was also chosen as a "Special Cooperative Researcher" at Gifu University, Japan and worked as a "Graduate Research Associate" at Kyoto University, Japan. I obtained further research training at Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion (KIIP), Kawasaki, Japan, where I worked for 2 years. I have contributed more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 5 invited book chapters as a first, co-first. or a co-corresponding author and have been cited for more than 3,000 times (as of Google Scholar, 10/2025). My research interests include but are not limited to biomaterials design and development, polymer synthesis and characterization, and tissue regeneration. I have won various awards such as "Academic Excellence Award" at KIST, Seoul, South Korea, Grand Prize from UST, Daejeon, South Korea, and TERMIS-AP Student Travel Award. Moreover, I regularly contribute as an ad-hoc reviewer for reputed international scientific journals in the field of Polymer Science & Technology", Biomaterials, Regenerative Medicine, and Tissue Engineering. I have additionally received teaching and research supervision experience at different levels nationally and internationally.

Teaching

I have been actively engaged in the teaching and thesis supervision at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. I have also designed the course curriculam of different types of programs, e.g., MS/PhD in Chemical Sciences and Biomedical Engineering. I have also delivered the theory and laboratory courses at all levels, and have been actively engaged in the delivery of following courses:
