Research
In my doctoral dissertation, I examine the sense of belonging among Muslim youth living in Varissuo. I am interested in how young people’s agency and sense of belonging change when they cross the boundaries of Varissuo and as their position shifts from the religious majority to the religious minority. My research draws on interviews, ethnographic observation, and newspaper material. My approach combines the anthropology of religion, youth studies, and urban studies.
