Biography

Sanna Pelttari works as University Teacher at the Department of Spanish at the School of Languages
and Translation Studies, University of Turku. Pelttari’s doctoral dissertation (2025) examined the emotional language use and communicative practices between Spanish‑speaking YouTubers and their audiences. The aim was to investigate what these practices reveal about the interactional relationships between the two user groups. The data were analyzed through background phenomena potentially linked to emotional expression on YouTube, including the attention economy, parasocial relationships, social and emotional capital, and affective attachment. Pelttari has also conducted collaborative research projects on technologies for language teaching and learning (digital learning profiles, informal and hybrid learning, digital literacy, information seeking, attitudes, and future visions).
