Biography
I am Sewwandi, from the beautiful tropical island of Sri Lanka, with a background in zoology and marine biology and a keen interest in ornithology. Trained in bird ringing, mist netting, blood collection, and vocalization recording, I have participated in fieldwork across multiple countries. My experience includes renewable energy consulting, particularly assessing wind turbine impacts on birds.
Research
My doctoral thesis focuses on how anthropogenic changes affect invertebrate abundance and nutritional quality, impacting the reproductive success of hole-nesting birds near a Finnish copper-nickel smelter in Harjavalta. Through this work, I aim to contribute valuable insights to ongoing studies on the health status of these model bird species in Finland.
