I am working as a University teacher (2018-2020) of Folkloristics at the University of Turku. My current research is about the culture and the heritage of Finnish Americans currently living in the USA.
My research interests include folklore, heritage, tradition, popular culture, dark tourism, tourism, authenticity, identity politics, ethnicity and cultural identity.
My doctoral thesis "Heritage through Fiction? Dracula Tourism in Romania" was published in August 2014. My thesis deals with heritage and how tradition and history are used especially in tourism, authenticity, heritage/cultural heritage, otherness, dark tourism, stereotypes and the connection of fact and fiction (especially in Dracula tourism in Romania).
