My PhD project focuses on examine pioneering international legal mobilization of the Sámi people, Nordic responses to claims for indigenous rights, and the development of legal conceptualizations of indigeneity in Finland, Sweden and Norway from 1970s to 1990s. Furthermore, I examine the interplay between visual culture and Sámi rights development.

Beyond the topic of my thesis, my research interests include transitional justice, difficult pasts and remembrance processes, gender and intersectionality.

I am conducting my research as part of the project From the Margin to the Centre: Rights Development, Transitional Justice and Indigeneity in the Nordics (MARCEN), funded by the European Research Council (Starting Grant, 2025–2029).
