6. Purpose of processing personal data

The purpose of the information provided by the prospective doctoral researcher is to allow the BGG steering board to identify one or more possible supervisors for the prospective doctoral researcher; to pass on the information provided by the prospective doctoral researcher for these potential supervisors and to encourage them to contact the prospective doctoral researcher to together develop an application for doctoral study rights for the prospective doctoral researcher at BGG doctoral programme. 

 

7. Legal basis for processing personal data

The legal basis for processing personal data is the Article 6 or Article 9 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation, Article 6 Section 1:

8. What categories of personal data the research data includes

Name; Email; Curriculum Vitae; Academic degree; date and place of obtaining the Academic degree as well as grade; short summary of potential doctoral research

 

9. Which sources the personal data is collected from

The information is provided by the prospective doctoral researcher filling in the survey form.

 

10. Transfers or disclosures of data

The information provided may be transferred to a person or persons who can potentially act as supervisor for the prospective doctoral researcher. These persons will be affiliated to the University of Turku. The information provided will not be transferred or disclosed to any other party.

 

11. Transfers or disclosures of data outside the EU or the European Economic Area

Personal data will not be transferred outside the EU.

 

12. Automated decision-making

Processing of information will not include automated processing.

 

13. Principles of safeguarding personal data

Safeguarding manual data:

The data processed in the information systems is safeguarded with the following measures: account credentials 

Processing direct identifiers:

The data is analyzed including the direct identifiers, because these identifiers are needed for the purpose (point 8)

 

14. Duration of processing

 Potential applicant’s personal information will be retained for 2 years and then deleted.

 

15. Rights of the data subjects and possible limitations to them

The data subject has a right to cancel the consent they have given for processing of personal data. The data subject has the right to inspect their registered data (Article 15).
The data subject has the right to rectification of their data. The data subject has the right to erasure of their data (Article 17). The data subject has a right to restrict the processing of data (Article 18). To execute these rights, contact the data controller (point 1).

​​The data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority if the data subject considers that the processing of personal data related to him/her has violated the information security legislation currently valid. To lodge a complaint, contact the data protection officer (point 3).
