Opening Carnival
The event for the new and old students as well as for the staff is held at the square in front of Educarium and Publicum on Tuesday, 3 September 2019, 12–2 pm and it is a lively start to the studies and the new academic year. Come and join the festivities!
The Opening Carnival is organised each year by the University of Turku and the Student Union of the University of Turku.
The programme includes celebration, awarding the teacher and course of the year as well as the language deed of the year, a welcome speech from the Rector, music and much more.
Meet over 80 Sub-organisations of the Student Union
On different stands, you can meet the sub-organisations of the Student Union and discover the activities and services available on campus.
The University Services’ stands include University Sports, Library, Language Centre, Career Services and International Office. Practice for emergencies at the fire extinction stand.
If the weather is poor, the event will be organised in the lobby of the Natura Building on the University Hill.

The official programme of the Opening Day continues with a service in the Turku Cathedral from 3.00 pm onwards as well as with the Opening Ceremony in the Medisiina D Building at 4.15 pm. Please note that registration for the Opening Ceremony is required in advance.
